Jiuzhaigou
Pace, season and who it suits
Pace Two nights in Chengdu and three near the valley entrance. Keep transfer days free of additional visits and choose short walks rather than repeated climbs.
Season Spring and summer offer water and woodland, autumn brings colour and crowds, and winter access needs separate checking.
Who it suits Travellers who want mountain-lake scenery and are willing to allow transfer and adjustment time with limited trail walking.

01 Day 1
Chengdu
Arrive and rest in Chengdu
Check in, eat locally and take a short nearby walk. Separate the long-distance arrival from the mountain transfer, confirm onward connections and rest rather than continuing to Jiuzhaigou on the same day.
02 Day 2
Chengdu
An easy park-and-teahouse day
Make People’s Park and a teahouse break today’s focus, leaving the afternoon free. Prepare tickets, luggage and the valley reservation, then keep dinner early enough to rest before the longer transfer tomorrow.
03 Day 3
Jiuzhaigou valley entrance
A full transfer day without entering the valley
Reach the valley entrance using confirmed transport, including the final road connection and mountain-weather buffer. Check in and rest, allowing time to adjust without entering the park or adding a climb on transfer day.
04 Day 4
Jiuzhaigou
Choose one lake-and-woodland route
Follow the day’s open routes and shuttle directions to choose a suitable lake area. Alternate transport with short walks, shorten trails whenever needed and return for rest instead of trying to cover every valley.
05 Day 5
Jiuzhaigou
A shorter second visit or a rest day
If energy and reservations allow, choose another waterfall or valley area with less walking than yesterday. A full rest day is equally valid; do not add Huanglong or repeated higher-elevation hiking simply to see everything.
06 Day 6
Jiuzhaigou to Chengdu
Return to Chengdu with a connection buffer
Make returning to Chengdu today’s only task and allow generous road and station buffers. Before a long-haul or international flight, consider another Chengdu night rather than relying on a tight connection from weather-sensitive mountain transport.

- Rail arrival is not valley arrival
- The valley still needs an onward road transfer from the rail station; plan the entire connection.
- Leave adjustment time and avoid stacking climbs
- The valley involves higher-elevation walking; Huanglong is not assumed, and any health concerns should be discussed with an appropriate professional before travel.
- Confirm a second entry separately
- Check reservations and ticket conditions for both days rather than assuming one admission automatically covers consecutive visits.
