Pace, season and who it suits
Pace Two nights at each base, no major attraction on transfer days and time to sit and rest even on grassland days.
Season Focus on the milder season, checking current access, road conditions and any flowering expectations; carry warm layers and rain protection for mountain weather.
Who it suits Travellers who value nature and free time, accept road transfers and prefer short walks to a packed sightseeing circuit.
Yining’s neighbourhood streets and valley life
Kalajun’s open grasslands
Kuerdening’s mountain woodland
01 Day 1
Yining
Arrive in the valley and rest
After arriving in Yining, eat and walk close to your accommodation. Settle into the journey, confirm the onward vehicle and stays, and avoid continuing to a distant grassland on the arrival day.
02 Day 2
Yining
Explore neighbourhood streets with a free afternoon
Choose one neighbourhood for a slow morning walk, observing valley-city life and respecting residents when taking photographs. Leave the afternoon for tea or rest, with no intercity excursion before tomorrow’s transfer.
03 Day 3
Yining to Tekes
Transfer by road for two nights in Tekes
Travel to Tekes on the confirmed road route, allowing normal meal and rest stops. Check in and take a light town walk, leaving Kalajun until tomorrow rather than turning the journey into repeated sightseeing detours.
04 Day 4
Kalajun
Choose one grassland area
Choose one grassland area using current visitor access and shuttles, taking short walks among rolling slopes and distant mountain views. Rest midway through the day, treating horse riding and longer hikes as separate choices.
05 Day 5
Tekes to Gongliu
Change base and keep the afternoon restful
Move from Tekes to Gongliu, making the road journey and check-in the day’s focus. Stop for breaks as needed and stay near the accommodation afterward, leaving Kuerdening for a separate, unhurried day.
06 Day 6
Kuerdening
A short woodland-and-valley route
Select a suitable route within the open visitor area to enjoy woodland, slopes and broad valley views. Walk only comfortable sections, shorten the outing if rain arrives and return to Gongliu without another grassland stop.
07 Day 7
Gongliu to Yining
Return to Yining with a departure buffer
Focus on returning to Yining, choosing departure time around actual road conditions and onward travel. Add a Yining night if the connection lacks a comfortable buffer, rather than combining a long drive, shopping and a tight departure.
