Qingdao and Weihai’s coast in five days
Spend time in Qingdao’s old streets and Badaguan before continuing to Weihai. Separate coastal walks from Liugong Island, check ferry conditions and ideally depart from Weihai to avoid unnecessary backtracking.

Qingdao
-
Weihai
Pace, season and who it suits
Pace Two nights in each city, with only a short walk on the transfer day.
Season Late spring through autumn suits coastal time; allow for summer sun and crowds and strong winter sea winds.
Who it suits Travellers who enjoy coastal scenery and urban architecture without needing a swimming activity every day.
Badaguan’s streets and architecture
Shandong Peninsula’s coast
Liugong Island’s naval history
01 Day 1
Zhanqiao pier area, Qingdao
Arrive for sea views around Zhanqiao pier
Check in and choose a short coastal walk around Zhanqiao pier for old-city and sea views. Enter the pier only if access is open, then enjoy dinner and rest without adding distant Laoshan on arrival day.
02 Day 2
Qingdao
Take time over Badaguan’s streets
Focus on Badaguan’s tree-lined streets and choose an open building that interests you. Pause in the afternoon and add nearby coast only if energy allows, rather than walking every street in the district.
03 Day 3
Weihai
Continue to Weihai before an easy coastal evening
Take the confirmed train to Weihai and allow time for the hotel transfer and lunch. Choose a short local coastal walk, then check tomorrow’s island notices rather than trying to board a ferry on arrival day.
04 Day 4
Liugong Island
A day of island history
Visit Liugong Island if weather and ferry operation allow, focusing on naval-history displays and a short island walk. Allow a proper break and return sailing buffer; use a city-based cultural or coastal alternative if services stop.
05 Day 5
Weihai
Depart from Weihai where possible
After breakfast, head to the actual departure point and walk nearby only if time allows. Prefer leaving directly from Weihai; if returning to Qingdao, reserve the intercity travel time without adding another coastal city.
